Heavy border traffic seen this weekend as U.S., Canada have Monday holidays

Published: August 30, 2012

Expect very heavy border traffic this weekend as both the U.S. and Canada have long holiday weekends. Monday, Sept. 3, is Labor Day in America and is Labour Day in Canada.

Motorists also should expect a lot of back-to-school shopping traffic as students in Whatcom County and British Columbia head back to class.

While most retail stores and restaurants on both sides of the border will be open Monday, government offices, banks and some small businesses will be closed. When in doubt, call ahead.
