Government offices, banks and schools will be closed Monday, Sept. 3, for Labor Day, but most stores and restaurants will be open.
Here is a list of Whatcom County services and their status Monday:
Government
City of Bellingham and Whatcom County government offices - closed.
Bellingham parking meters - not enforced.
Bellingham and Whatcom County library branches - closed.
Public schools, colleges and universities - closed.
Postal service - no delivery.
Services
Banks - closed.
Garbage - Sanitary Service Co. picking up on regular schedule. Nooksack Valley Disposal & Recycling will pick up trash earlier than usual; customers are advised to set out their trash early.
Whatcom Transportation Authority - No buses running Monday.
The Bellingham Herald - offices closed, regular newspaper delivery. If your paper is not delivered, call customer service at 360-676-2660 between 6 and 9 a.m.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County - closed.
The Opportunity Council - closed.
YMCA - closed.
Retail/Entertainment
Bellis Fair - open regular hours. Some anchor stores have longer hours for Labor Day sales.
Grocery stores - open, including Trader Joe's, Community Food Co-op and Everybody's Store.
Movie theaters and most video stores - open.
