"We are in our 19th year and there is a lot of terrific support here," Palmer, the festival's founder and artistic director, said. Palmer founded the festival as way to bring music to match the same beauty of the natural surroundings in the Pacific Northwest, he said.

About 60 people attended a chamber music concert July 12 at a benefit for the Bellingham Festival of Music.

The concert, along with an annual dinner auction in April, together raised more than $80,000 for the festival, which brings outstanding classical musicians to Bellingham for the annual festival.

The chamber music performance held at Squalicum Boathouse at Zuanich Point Park featured several principal players from the festival orchestra performing Leoš Janácek's "Mládí," a suite for wind sextet, and Beethoven's "Septet in E-flat Major" for clarinet, horn, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, and double bass.

"We are grateful to the members of the community who so generously support the festival," says John Binns, board chairman. "This year's concert was particularly nice ... set as it was overlooking Bellingham Bay at sunset."
