CYCLING: New South Sound bike ride hits road Sept. 9

Published: August 26, 2012

The Capital Bicycling Club will hold a new event, Ride the South Sound, Sept. 9. The ride will begin and end in downtown Olympia’s Harbor House at Percival Landing Waterfront Park on Budd Inlet.

Families and occasional riders will enjoy the 10- or 20-mile loops, while riders looking for a challenge can take on the 40-, 60- or 100-mile routes. The newly designed routes take riders to scenic points around the South Sound – Boston Harbor, Johnson Point, Steamboat Island, Woodard Bay, Delphi Valley and Waddell Creek.

Along the way, there will be plenty of food and rest stops. All routes feature a rest stop at San Fransisco Street Bakery, where riders can enjoy a treat, courtesy of the club.

After the ride, riders are invited to the Harbor House to enjoy a spaghetti dinner from Olympia’s much loved Bread Peddler. All riders will be entered in a raffle, with more than $500 in prizes donated by local businesses.

Riders can register online or sign up the day of the ride. For more information, go to capitalbicyclingclub.org.
