Gifford Pinchot National Forest officials will close a portion of popular Forest Service Road 25 from Sept. 5-15. The culvert where Woods Creek passes under the road at milepost 3.9 is scheduled for replacement, forcing the temporary closure to through traffic.

The closure will be at the extreme north end of the road, about 41/2 miles south of Randle.

The project is designed to restore fish passage in the creek, a tributary to the Cispus River.

The forest staff is trying to make the replacement process as quick as possible using new and innovative ideas to limit the impact on forest users, said Cowlitz Valley Ranger District fish biologist Ken Wieman.

The design also is meant to better simulate natural stream processes.
