Blues festival on Lummi Island benefits community groups

The Greg Pitsch Band is performing at the third annual Benefit Blues Festival on Lummi Island, on Saturday, Aug. 18, next to The Islander Store, 2106 S. Nugent Road.

The third annual Benefit Blues Festival on Lummi Island is from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, in the field next to The Islander Store, 2106 S. Nugent Road. Deborah Hawley, founder and director of M.O.R.E. for change (Mothers of Offenders & Others Rallying and Educating for Change) hosts the event, which benefits a speakers' bureau to raise public awareness about the large number of people in prison in the United States.

Performers include Eric Freeman, Marlee Walker and the Greg Pitsch Band with Johnny Brewer, plus vendors, beverages and food, and speakers from community organizations on correctional facilities and service organizations.
