Whatcom County man arrested on suspicion of child molestation

Published: August 10, 2012

A Whatcom County man suspected of molesting his stepgranddaughter earlier this summer was booked into jail Friday morning, Aug. 10, for investigation of third-degree domestic violence child molestation.

Dennis Workman, 61, allegedly molested the 15-year-old girl while she was at his house in the 5900 block of Truck Road on July 4, said Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks. Workman came up behind the girl while she was playing piano, rubbed her shoulders and back, then reached around and touched her breasts, Parks said.

The girl told family members what happened and said Workman had been inappropriate with her over the past year, Parks said. The family did not report the incident to the sheriff's office until Aug. 8.

Workman admitted to being inappropriate with the girl, Parks said.
