Police: Lynden man arrested after aiming shotgun at girlfriend during argument

Published: August 7, 2012

LYNDEN - A man suspected of pointing a 12-gauge shotgun at his girlfriend during an argument was arrested Saturday night, Aug. 4, for investigation of domestic violence assault.

Charles Allen Hunt, 41, and his girlfriend, 39, had been drinking and arguing at their apartment in the 1100 block of East Grover Street when Hunt allegedly picked up a shotgun, pumped the slide, and pointed the gun at his girlfriend, said Lynden Police Deputy Chief John Billester.

Hunt told officers the argument got "crazy" after his girlfriend said something mean, at which point he walked out of the apartment. The victim said Hunt pointed the gun at her just after she made the comment, Billester said.

Officers confiscated the shotgun, which was not loaded, along with several other weapons as evidence, Billester said. Hunt was booked into Whatcom County Jail just after midnight Aug. 5 for investigation of first-degree domestic violence assault.
