When Bellingham playwright and historian Joseph Lenz wrote his musical tall tale, "Mark Twain in Fairhaven," he probably never guessed it would be 10 years before it would be performed in its namesake locality.
The play, which is loosely based on Twain's visit to Fairhaven in 1895, runs at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 9-11, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12. It continues at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 16-18 and 23-25, and at 2 p.m. Aug. 19 and 26 at the Firehouse Performing Arts Center, 1314 Harris Ave.
