Says Grant has needed experience

Published: August 1, 2012

I support District Court Judge Dave Grant for Superior Court judge. As a local attorney, I believe Judge Grant clearly has more relevant experience for the position than the other candidates. He has the criminal law experience necessary for a Superior Court judge, which he gained while working in the Whatcom County Prosecutor's Office and during the last seven years as District Court judge. He has valuable, and, more importantly broad, civil law experience gained as a civil attorney for the county as well as during his time handling civil cases in District Court. Often overlooked is his experience with court administration gained while acting as the presiding judge of District Court. It is worth noting that Superior Court Judge Ira Uhrig was a District Court judge and Judge Charles Snyder was a Superior Court Commissioner for many years prior to being elected to the Superior Court. I believe that both these judges have confirmed the importance of such experience to be able to handle the complex and important duties of a Superior Court judge from the very first day on the job.
