Rave: Standing ovation for Bellingham production of 'Secret Garden'

Published: July 29, 2012

Yesterday I had the great pleasure of attending a performance of "The Secret Garden" put on by The Neighborhood Playhouse in Bellingham. We went because it was put on by our niece Lizanne McGarity and her husband, Jerry. It also featured our great-nieces Glenna and Hannie McGarity.

I know it might sound like we were there because of our relations were involved, but as it turned out it was one of the best musicals I have ever witnessed. As part of their summer workshop they only had two weeks to prepare. It was absolutely amazing. Some of the best performances I have ever seen. I was driven to tears, particularly at the end and it was something I will never forget.

Thanks to all those that made it possible: the musical director, the cast, the set designers and, of course, Jerry and Lizanne McGarity. Please help these wonderful locals who make Bellingham a far richer place. I wish we could stay here and enjoy every play they produce, but it's nearly time to go back home. A standing round of applause to all involved.
