Western's Miller Hall renovation awarded LEED gold certification

The renovation of historic Miller Hall at Western Washington University was awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.

Miller Hall was awarded gold certification. LEED certifications range from basic to the Silver, Gold, and Platinum rankings.

The $51.5 million Miller Hall project renovated the 134,000-square-foot building.

The first phase of the building renovation began in the summer of 2009 and was completed at the end of summer 2010. The second phase included renovation of the building wing, completed in the fall of 2011.

Dawson Construction of Bellingham was the general contractor and project construction manager. The project team included Mahlum Architects, Coughlin Porter Lundeen, CDI Engineers, Sparling, and Berger Partnership.
