This is just to inform all veterans that some stores actually do give them a discount for having served. Home Depot does during certain holidays, such as July 4th, Veterans Day, etc., but you have to bring in your DD-214 and a picture to prove it or a government-issued card. Lowe's does it year-round and if you have a DD-214 or even an American Legion card you get the 10 percent discount.
I am now shopping full time at Lowe's and I hope other veterans do as well. If you know of any other places which give a discount I would like to know. I have been out of the service since 1975 and it is one of the few times I have received a benefit from having served. I really appreciated it.
