Visitors to Olympic National Park have two opportunities to learn more about the Hurricane Ridge area by taking part in the Hurricane Ridge meadow walk.

The walks are offered from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-3 p.m. Sunday. The walks begin at the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center.

The easy-paced, ranger-led walks allow participants to discover the wildlife, wildflowers and other features of the Olympic’s sub-alpine landscape.

The walk is free, but there is a $15 per-vehicle admission fee. For more information, call 360-565-3130.

The visitor center sits at 5,242 feet and is about 17 miles south of Port Angeles. The area got its name from the wind gusts that can buffet the ridge, reaching 75 mph.
