The Bellingham Post 7 Senior American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader at Garfield late Tuesday, July 10, grabbing 4-2 and 9-0 victories.
Tanner Olson pitched Post 7 to victory in the first game, allowing no earned runs in the game. In fact, he did not allow a base runner from the second to the seventh inning and finished the game having allowed only three hits and no walks while striking out 10.
Jordan Kreider and Ben Wilson each went 2 for 3 in the game and combined to drive in three of Bellingham's four runs.
Pitching and defense again was the key in the second game, as John Albert held Garfield to two hits and no walks while striking out six in the shutout. Like it did in the first game, Post 7 committed only one error in the game.
Kreider again had a pair of RBI in the second game, as did Travis Boyd, who finished 2 for 3.
Bellingham next hosts Mound Time from Portland at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, before hosting Bellevue on Tuesday, July 17, at Joe Martin Field to determine second place in the division.
Bellingham will have to travel for the regional tournament, which will be played July 21 and 22 at a site to be determined.
