Post 7 loses early lead, falls 5-4

Published: July 10, 2012

The Post 7 senior legion baseball club was unable to take advantage of early opportunities and suffered a four-run sixth inning in a 5-4 loss to Prep Sports of Bothell Monday, July 9, in Bothell.

Post 7 led 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth, but starter Chase Heslep ran into trouble and ran out of gas, giving up four runs.

"They got some runs in the sixth when Chase got tired, but it goes beyond that," Post 7 coach Jeff Bearden said in a phone interview. "We had our chances to score runs early, and for two weeks now we just haven't been getting the job done."

Tanner Olson led senior legion with a 2 for 3 night at the plate. He hit a solo homer and recorded an RBI. Jake Frost went 2 for 3 at the plate, and Ben Wilson went 1 for 3 with a triple.

Post 7 plays a double header against Garfield at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Garfield.
