I find it appalling that the Supreme Court of the United States, a country made up of immigrants, has upheld the law concerning the detainment of all citizens and persons who do not meet the appearance of the status quo. This is a very dangerous precedent. How is it possible that if I do not look lily white, or have on my person more than a driver's license, that somebody can automatically detain and create hardships for me if I do not produce my papers immediately on demand? I would presumably be using my one phone call (assuming that that right is not denied) trying to get a lawyer instead of calling my employer. It would then happen that I would lose my job, and my child would be abandoned at school, as my face is being smashed into the sidewalk by some knee-jerk idiot. How can we justify this crazy downhill slide? I am very concerned.
