The Bellingham Slam let a late lead slip away, as they fell 132-129 to the Portland Chinooks during an International Basketball League game Saturday, June 30, at the 212 Sports Complex in Clackamas, Ore.
The Slam held a 69-58 lead at the break, but Portland took a 94-93 advantage with a little over a minute left in the third quarter. The Chinooks built a 10-point lead in the fourth before Bellingham mounted a comeback.
Trailing 132-129, the Slam had a chance to force overtime, but two 3-point attempts were off the mark.
Morris Anderson led Bellingham with 31 points and 10 rebounds, and Drew Ready finished with 26 points.
Bellingham's next game is against the Oregon Waves at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Whatcom Pavilion on the campus of Whatcom Community College.
