Hartnett nearly perfect for Bells in win at Corvallis

Sean Hartnett had a perfect game broken up in the eighth inning and led Bellingham to a 6-0 win at Corvallis in West Coast League baseball action Wednesday, June 27.

The win improved the Bells to 13-5 while Corvallis dropped to 15-5.

Hartnett had not allowed a baserunner until a leadoff single in the bottom of the eighth inning. He ended up pitching eight shutout innings with one hit, no walks and six strikeouts.

The Bells scored four runs in the second inning and two more in the third inning. Johnny Farrington was 2 for 5 with two RBI, Derek Atkinson was 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBI, and Joe Winterburn was 1 for 4 with a run and RBI.

The Bells and Knights play again at 6:40 p.m., Thursday, June 28, at Corvallis.
