Three players earn 1A all-state honorable mention

Nooksack Valley's McKinna Larson, Lynden Christian's Erika Heystek and Meridian's Kelli Terpsma received a Class 1A Softball All-State Team honorable mention when the all-state roster was released Wednesday, June 27.

No players from Nooksack Valley, Meridian or Lynden Christian received first- or second-team selections.

Larson batted leadoff and played shortstop for the Pioneers. She hit for a .471 average with an on-base percentage of .603, drove in 39 runs, hit 12 doubles and had five homers.

Terpsma finished her four-year varsity career as Meridian's second baseman with a .303 average. She recorded 13 RBI, scored 28 runs and led the Trojans with 20 stolen bases.

Heystek played outfield for the Lyncs and hit .317 with an on-base percentage of .481. She drove in 19 runs and stole 16 bases.

All three players led their teams to the Class 1A State Tournament.
