The "Whatcom View" op-ed by Lynn and Gary Hardaway on June 12 made my eyes roll. Once again, I believe people are confusing public policy with religious bigotry. By their logic, every decision made by government should be invalidated because it is no doubt contrary to the religious views of some random taxpayer.

They simply do not recognize we are a secular state.

We are not, never have been and, God help us, I hope we never become, a "Christian" nation. They, and people who believe as they do, would rather see us continue our descent into third-world status than do anything to offend their theology.
