Walton to enter WIBCA Hall of Fame on July 26

Longtime Sehome and Ferndale assistant coach Monte Walton, who is preparing to lead the Ferndale program for a second straight year this winter, will be inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame on July 26 at the Allen more Golf Course in Tacoma.

Walton will enter the Hall along with head coaches Tim Cummings (Idaho, Auburn) and Leroy Sinnes (Yelm, Mark Morris, Port Angeles) and assistant coach Mark Williams (Fife, Lincoln, Curtis) in a 6 p.m. ceremony.

Head coach Don Schumacher (Kamiakin) and assistant coach Pat Clark (Gonzaga Prep, North Central, Mead) will be inducted in another ceremony scheduled for July 24 at the Kennewick Red Lion Inn.

Grand Slam Baseball Camp: Sehome coaches Gary Hatch and Monte Walton and their team will host a trio of camps in July at Sehome High. A camp for players ages 7-10 will run from July 5-7. A camp for players 11-12 will run from July 8-11, and a camp for players 13-16 will run from July 19-21. Each camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $105 and includes a t-shirt. High School Tennis Camp: Squalicum coaches Joe and Cindy O'Brien will host the camp July 16-19 at Squalicum High. The coed camp is for players entering grades 9 through 12 and runs from 1-3:30 p.m. daily. The cost is $75 and includes a t-shirt. Junior Mariner Football Camp: New coach Bob Norvell and the Sehome football team will host a camp from July 16-19 at Civic Stadium. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day and is intended for students entering the first through eight grades. The cost is $60 and included a t-shirt. Mariners Boys' Basketball Camp: Sehome coach A.J. LaBree and his team will host the camp from June 25-28 at Sehome High. A camp for players entering third through sixth grade will run from 9 a.m. to noon daily, and a camp for seventh through ninth graders will run from 1-4 p.m. daily. Mariner Coed Volleyball Camp: Sehome coach Kristy White along with the Sehome volleyball coaching staff and players will host the camp June 25-28 at Fairhaven Middle School. The camp for incoming fifth through seventh graders will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day, while the camp for eighth and ninth graders will be from 1:30-4:30 p.m. The cost is $65 and includes a t-shirt. Mariner Cross Country Camp: The Sehome cross country coaching staff and team will host the camp July 16-20 at the Sehome High track. The camp, which is intended for boys and girls entering grades 5 through 12, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. Mariner Summer Track Camp: Sehome coaches Tim Carlson, Kevin Ryan, Nic Castona and staff will host the camp June 25-29 at Civic Stadium. Middle School Tennis Camps: Squalicum coaches Joe and Cindy O'Brien, along with Storm players and assistant coaches, will host a series of camps for boys and girls entering sixth through ninth grade. A coed camp is scheduled for June 25-28 from 1-3:30 p.m. Girls' camps are scheduled for July 2-5 from 9-11:30 a.m. and July 9-12 from 1-3 p.m. Boys' camps are scheduled for July 2-5 from 1-3:30 p.m. and July 9-12 from 9-11:30 a.m. All camps will be held at the Squalicum tennis courts, cost $75 and include a t-shirt. Weightlifting, Speed and Conditioning: Squalicum High School coaches will offer summer conditioning opportunities on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from June 25 through Aug. 10 in the Squalicum weight room. Sophomores through seniors may attend from 9-10:30 a.m., while students entering the sixth through ninth grades may attend from 10-11:30 a.m. The cost is $35.
