Published: June 23, 2012

Former Ferndale High and Whatcom Community College basketball standout Ashley Honeycutt has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Montana State University-Northern.

Honeycutt, a 6-foot post who graduated from Ferndale in 2009, spent her freshman year at Lewis-Clark State College, before playing for the Orcas last year.

"We are thrilled that she has chosen our program, where I am confident that she will be successful as a person, student and athlete," MSU coach Chris Mouat said in a press release. "We have been pursuing her for two years, and I believe she will be ultimately successful as a Skylight."

Honeycutt was selected first team All-Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges North Region and was co-MVP of the season after leading the NWAACC with 11.7 rebounds per game and was ninth in scoring at 18.1 points per game.

MSU-Northern is located in Havre and is part of the NAIA's Frontier Conference.
