Unhappy with Ski to Sea canoe leg parking

Published: June 18, 2012

I had the honor, privilege and fun of racing in the Ski to Sea this year for the first time. It felt great to be a part of such big and well-planned event participating in the Nooksack River canoe leg.

It was disheartening though to have to miss our team's finish in Fairhaven due to poor planning in the Hovander park traffic exit situation. There were seven or eight rows of the parking lot all coming to the one exit line, which made the people unlucky enough to be in the seventh or eighth line stuck in a stopped position for more than an hour. This could easily be fixed by having only one or two exits out of the field instead of every parking row.
