The NW Innovation Resource Center is launching an initiative focused on recruiting entrepreneurs with ideas for products and services targeted at the growing market of aging consumers.
Called the Entrepreneur Challenge, NWIRC's "Focus on Aging" addresses several trends, including:
- Growth in population for those age 55 and over.
- Increases in life expectancy in the United States.
- More citizens remaining in their homes as they age.
Participants will receive help with product planning, market identification, business plan development and pre-production support, as well as access to local business leaders who are expert mentors, according to a news release. The NWIRC works with business leaders from across the region to provide expertise in all facets of a business start-up.
Though this initiative is focused on the growing market of aging consumers, the NWIRC works with entrepreneurs in all areas.
Anyone located in northwest Washington with an innovative idea with potential to become a business is eligible for the Entrepreneur Challenge. There is no cost to apply. Applications are due to the NWIRC by Friday, July 13. Details can be found at nwirc.com/apply.
