Trevor Turnbull edged out a hard-charging Chad Hillier to win the 360 Sprints Main Saturday, June 9, at Skagit Speedway, while Rob Schroder picked up his first ever win in the Sportsman Sprints, Jared Peterson won the USAC Midgets and Rick Young won the Outlaw Hornets.
Fast times tonight qualifying for the 360 Sprints went to Hillier, who ran an 11.964 second lap for the fastest qualifying time, and the Sportsman Sprint fast time belonged to Steve Parker with a 12.916 second lap.
In the Sportsman Sprints, Zach McCabe actually crossed the finish line first but was disqualified due to an illegal wing that is not allowed in the Sportsman division. Schroder, who finished second, gladly took the first-place win.
In the Outlaw Hornets, Clint Meins captured his first heat race win, and Howard Vos won the second heat, but it was Young who crossed the finish line first in the Main.
Next up at Skagit Speedway is the 41st Jim Rapier Memorial Dirt Cup. Racing begins at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, June 14-16.
