Post 7 Senior Legion's John Albert made his presence felt in his first game back playing for the summer-league club, as he pitched seven innings and struck out 11 to help Post 7 grab a 11-2 win over Graham-Kapowsin Sunday, June 10, in Graham.
Albert earned the win and didn't surrender a single earned run. He also went 3 for 5 at the plate with a triple and three RBI. Teammate Sean Locke was the only other Post 7 player to enjoy a multi-hit game. He went 2 for 6.
Post 7 took 10-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth until Graham-Kapowsin broke into the scoring column with run. Post 7 added another run in the top of the seventh to take a 11-1 lead, and Graham Kapowsin matched Post 7 with a run in the bottom half of the inning.
Ben Wilson pitched in relief for Albert and tossed two scoreless innings while recording five strikeouts to give Post 7 15 for the game in what was a dominating pitching performance.
"(Albert) came out and, you know, he dominated from the beginning and basically relied on his fastball," Senior Legion assistant coach Jeff Bearden said in a phone interview. "He didn't have to throw too many breaking balls. He just overpowered them. He had eight strikeouts in the first four innings."
Post 7's next game is against White Rock at 6 p.m. Monday, June 11, at Sehome High School
