Lynden's Brooke Bonsen was a major part of the Lions softball program's best season in history this year, and it was recognized as junior pitcher was named the All-Northwest Conference Player of the Year.

Bonsen was the winning pitcher in 19 of Lynden's 21 victories this year and helped the Lions reach the Class 2A State Tournament. Bonsen's coach, Steve Petersen, also was named the coach of the year after the Lions' impressive season.

Joining Bonsen with a first-team selection is freshman catcher Mandy Warner and second-team picks Trisha Snydar (sophomore second baseman) and Taylor VanDalen (junior outfielder).

Other Whatcom County players who earned first-team selections were Ferndale junior catcher Corrie Wilson, Mount Baker senior third baseman Jordyn Lallas, Mount Baker junior shortstop Megan Young, Nooksack Valley junior shortstop McKenna Larsen, Nooksack Valley sophomore second baseman/outfielder Chloe Gardner and Sehome junior shortstop Rachel Albert.

Whatcom County players on the second team are Bellingham senior pitcher Katie Cooke, Blaine sophomore utility player Lexi McElwain, Ferndale senior shortstop Katie Brudwick, Lynden Christian senior outfielder Erika Heystek, Sehome freshman third baseman/catcher Gabby Gorosave and Sehome junior pitcher Meagan McIntyre.
