So, Newt Gingrich wants to gut educational programs and so we can build a colony on the moon in the next eight years? Is there an intellectual disconnect here or not? Of course, not to worry, there will be many well-educated engineers and scientists in India and China who can work on this project. We can still have an educational system that will produce quality menial workers for the 1 percent. Poor education may be a boon for growing Republican Party membership, but it is not for growing a healthy economy. If the present Republican presidential candidates, current and discarded wannabes, are an indication of intellectual quality, then I believe the party has more challenges than just winning an election.
