Marcus Bagnerise had 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Whatcom Community College men's basketball team shredded Shoreline Community College's press defense to win 112-82 in an NWAACC North Division game on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Whatcom improved to 19-3 overall and 11-1 in the North Division to retain the top seed.
Bagnerise was one of the multiple big men who were the beneficiaries of the Orcas' press break. Zach Stalin had 20 points and Chris Tanis finished with 12.
Derek Dickerson scored 17 points after lighting Shoreline up for a season-high 39 points the last time the two teams played. He wasn't as open on Saturday, but the low post certainly was.
"They knew Derek, (Patrick) Voeut and (Evan) Coulter could get hot from the corners," Whatcom coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview. "They pressed us all game long and those three guards handled the press very well."
The Orcas shot 52 percent from the field (45 for 87). Whatcom collected 66 rebounds to Shoreline's 49.
