BIKING, HIKING, HORSEBACK RIDING
New access road built for Weiser River Trail
Trail users will have new access to it from the Wye Trailhead, giving equestrians, mountain bikers and hikers another convenient way to get to the 84-mile trail in western Idaho.
The road, which goes off U.S. 95 about a half-mile north of Tamarack between Council and New Meadows ends up at the trailhead and undeveloped camping area with a vault toilet, water pump and horse corral.
Friends of the Weiser River Trail is seeking grants to build a developed campground in the area. The Weiser River Trail starts in Weiser and goes through the towns of Midvale, Cambridge and Council. The entire right-of-way was deeded to Friends of the Weiser River Trail in August 1997. For details and maps go to www.weiserrivertrail.org.
