Guided snowshoe hikes in Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest have filled fast, with spots remaining only for a Feb. 18 hike, and waiting lists for the others.
As of Monday, Feb. 6, a few spots remained for the 90-minute walk at Heather Meadows set for Saturday, Feb. 18.
There's a waiting list for that hike on two other days. A two-hour tour Saturday, Feb. 11, for a Hannegan Road hike off Mount Baker Highway also is full.
Advance registration is required for any of the snowshoeing hikes.
No experience is necessary; snowshoes are provided.
Rangers suggest that hikers wear layered and insulated clothing; sturdy, waterproof shoes; hats and gloves.
Groups are limited to 15 hikers, and a donation of $10 is suggested.
For more information or to register, contact the Mount Baker Ranger District office at 360-856-5700, ext. 515, on weekdays and 360-599-2714 on weekends.
