A 24-year-old Kennewick man was arrested early Monday morning for allegedly stabbing another man in the stomach.

Alexander W. Edwards is under investigation for first-degree assault and in custody at the Benton County jail, according to a news release from the Kennewick Police Department.

Victim Stephen M. Theofelif, 22, did not suffer life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery, said police.

Police said they were dispatched just after midnight to a party at 611 E. Ninth Place.

Edwards allegedly got into a fight and assaulted several people before arming himself with a knife and stabbing Theofelif. It’s not known what caused the fight but police said alcohol consumption is a possible factor.

Theofelif was taken to Kennewick General Hospital for treatment.
