WSU offering flower grower's workshop in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON - Washington State University and the Seattle Wholesale Growers Market are offering a two-day specialty cut flower growers school for beginning and intermediate growers.

The workshop will focus on sustainable flower growing techniques for the Pacific Northwest and will be taught by local flower growers Diane Szukovathy of Jello Mold Farm, Vivian Larson of Everyday Flowers and Joe Schmidt of Fair Field Flowers.

The class will cover business planning basics, growing techniques, specialty equipment, plant selection and other topics related to flower growing. Participants will be given a workbook with resources and technical information.

The growers school will be 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 24 and 25, at the Sakuma Auditorium at WSU's Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center, 16650 Highway 536.
