Herbert Hatch will celebrate his 90th birthday on February 11, 2012, with a no-gift open house from 2 to 4 at the Sumas Advent Christian Church, 125 Front St., Sumas. Herb was born in Nooksack WA, Feb 9, 1922, and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1941. He was drafted in the Army Air Force in 1942, where he served 2 1/2 years. Herb returned to Bellingham in Dec. 1945, worked in the Bellingham Plywood plant and married his first wife, Ruth Pering, in 1947. He retired from Bellingham Parks Dept. in 1984. His first wife died in 1997 and he married Jan in 1999, moved to Sumas and is enjoying his extended family. Herb keeps busy in his woodworking shop.
