The Lynden Christian girls' basketball team locked up the No. 1 seed to the Class 1A Northwest District Tournament with a 68-25 victory at Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, Feb. 2.
The Lyncs (11-8, 7-5 NWC) have won each of their past five games as they pulled away from Nooksack Valley and Meridian in the NWC 1A standings.
"That definitely gives us some confidence as we get ready for postseason," Lynden Christian coach Curt DeHaan said in a phone interview.
The Lyncs appeared to be on a mission from the opening tip. They led 26-3 after the first quarter and cruised from there as they handed Sedro-Woolley its 19th straight loss.
Kayla Tiemersma led Lynden Christian with 11 points and Courtney Hollander added nine.
The Lyncs host Meridian in the first round of the district tournament at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8. Before that, though, they host Anacortes for their final game of the season at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6.
