The Whatcom Community College women's basketball team battled back and forth with Everett Community College for 30 minutes but was ultimately able to pull away in the final 10 minutes to grab a 50-41 victory Wednesday, Feb. 1, on the campus of Everett Community College.
Whatcom's Cambie Edwards recorded a double double, leading the Orcas with a team-high 16 points and team-best 11 rebounds.
"It took us a long time to actually relax," Whatcom coach Sara Bergner said in a phone interview. "We had quite a few turnovers, but in the last 10 minutes we were able to relax. Cambie had a great game inside for us. She had 16 and 11. We didn't play clean basketball, but we got the job done."
Besides Edwards, Ericka Locker and Alisha Frieberg both score eight points in the Orcas' win.
Up next for Whatcom is a game against Edmonds Community College at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Whatcom Community College.
