The Lynden boys' swimming team used its final Northwest Conference meet of the season to earn a few more district-qualifying times and prepare for the Class 2A Northwest District Tournament.

In doing so, the Lions placed first in all but one event as they beat Bellingham 123-46 on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Lynden YMCA.

Lynden's Ryan Engelsma earned a district time in the 100 freestyle with his first-place finish at 59.3 seconds. Grant Williams and Jan Wolfisberg each earned district times in the 200 individual medley. Williams placed first at 2:36.10.

"We were hoping to get a couple more kids into districts and we did," Lynden coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview. "It was an important meet, not necessarily for times, but the kids looked excited and ready to go for the postseason.

Lynden's Moses Kim placed first in the 500 freestyle at 5:46.80, and the 200 freestyle in 2:02.41.

Bellingham's Nick Stout placed first in the 100 butterfly at 1:11.17.

Both Bellingham and Lynden now gear for the Class 2A Northwest District Tournament coming up at 2:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10.
