The Bellingham Herald, in conjunction with several other local businesses, will hold the 4th annual Heart for the Hungry Community Food Drive at three groceries stores in Whatcom County.

Volunteers will collect food donations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Lakeway Fred Meyer, Barkley Haggen and Ferndale Haggen. Drop-off bins will be in stores until Feb. 13.

Food donations also can be dropped off at Haggen's Meridian Street, Sehome and Fairhaven locations, as well as any Bank of the Pacific branch.

Cash donations will be accepted at all Bank of the Pacific branches and during the Feb. 4 staffed food drive at the three participating grocery stores.

All donations will go to the Bellingham Food Bank.

According to the food bank, in 2011 one out of every six Bellingham households regularly used the food bank, handing out more than 230,000 pounds of food.
