Raney Lepper placed first in the 145-pound class, Aysha Schwinden did the same at 195 and the Mount Baker girls' wrestling team placed second out of 42 teams in the Lady Wolfpack Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 28, at Jackson High school.
Lepper pinned Elma's Julia Arnold in the finals of the 145-pound class and Schwinden beat Highline's Sophie Munoz 7-4 in the 195-pound finals.
Mount Baker finished with 144 points total, placing second behind Sedro-Woolley's 153. Federal Way placed third with 130 and Stanwood was fourth with 122.
The Mountaineers had seven medalists, including Kaela Piehler's second-place finish to Sedro-Woolley's Hailey Rabenstein at 155. It was her first time making it to the finals of a tournament. Rachel Hollinsworth (145), Caliyah Hobbs (170) and Angela Mendez (255) each placed third.
Lynden's Lusia Garcia placed second at 255 to Stanwood's top heavyweight wrestler. Aleesha Cuny placed third at 195.
Next for both schools is the Class 2A Sub District Tournament from Friday, Feb. 3 to Saturday, Feb. 4, at Squalicum High School.
