Helen White of Bellingham will be celebrating her 95th birthday on January 31st. For many years she lived in Batavia, Illinois where she was a competitive swimmer and all-around athlete. She completed her nurses training in Aurora,Illinois. In 1941 she married Frank White in Batavia. Frank and Helen lived for many years on Illinois Street in Bellingham, where they raised their family. Helen was a gifted artist specializing in portraits. A debilitating tremor forced her to give up her art, but she amazes everyone with her sense of humor and positive attitude. Frank died in 1994. Her children Jeanne Johnson, Ruth Schmidt and Jim White all live in Bellingham. She has 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Helen is a member of Northlake Community Church, and she says she gets her strength and peace from God.
