FERNDALE - The city will host a "Day of Giving," 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29 to replenish the Ferndale Food Bank.

Nonperishable foods and cash will be accepted at locations across the city, including all Ferndale-area churches during morning services.

Early in the year, after the holidays, is when the food bank is most in need of assistance, Mayor Gary Jensen said in a press release. The number of individuals using the food bank increased 18 percent from 2010 to 2011, the release said.
