Moses Kim earned two Class 2A state qualifying times but it wasn't enough to lift the Lynden boys' swimming team past Anacortes, as the Lions fell 127-57 in a Northwest Conference meet on Thursday, Jan. 26, at Fidalgo Pool.
Kim swam personal best times in both the 100 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley. He placed first in the breaststroke in 1 minute, 5.72 seconds and second in the 200 IM at 2:10.10.
While Lynden (4-3, 3-3 NWC) didn't earn the team victory, Coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview the opportunity to swim at Fidalgo Pool, the site of the district championships on Feb. 10, was a good experience for his team.
"It's important for them to see that to take some of the anxieties away come the district championships," Gibb said. "We're feeling good. We had a lot of personal bests and the kids did very well."
Lynden faces Bellingham for its final meet of the season next at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Lynden YMCA.
