Christian Sharp of the Blaine wrestling team outlasted Jamaree Tannehill 3-2 in overtime, but the 132-pound match wasn't indicative of the entire dual.
Blaine cruised past Squalicum 51-15 in Northwest Conference action on Wednesday, Jan. 25, after earning four pins.
After Sharp edged Tannehill, Blaine earned convincing pins from Cody Blier (128), Justin Belding (138), Shaypher Hendricks (145) and Sheldon Hicks (220)
"It was good to get back on the mat," Blaine coach Craig Foster said in a phone interview. "We had a pretty good layoff since our last meet to it was good to get back out there. Now we're pushing hard and trying to get ready for the district tournament."
Squalicum saw pins come from Zach Wallace (120) and Zach Wilson (170).
Both teams now look toward the Northwest District Championship next on Friday, Feb. 4, and Saturday, Feb. 5.
