Makin’ tracks: It's not waterfowl season yet

11:00pm on Jan 25, 2012

Don’t make the mistake of hunting waterfowl this weekend.

The duck and goose season in Southwest Idaho closes Friday, Jan. 27 — not on a Sunday as some other hunts.

Other hunting seasons are coming to an end, too:

Quail: Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Chukar and gray partridge: Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival’s World Tour brings its films to the Egyptian Theatre in Boise for a three-night run starting Sunday, Feb. 5.

Tickets are available online at www.egyptiantheatre.net or by calling the box office at 387-1273.

Single-night tickets are $17; students and seniors, $13; and a three-night pass, $45. Day of show tickets are $20.

The elk are back in eastern Oregon, and T&T Wildlife Tours is offering elk-viewing excursions from a horse-drawn wagon at the Anthony Creek feed site near North Powder, Ore.

About 195 elk were in the area last week.

Feb. 5 is the deadline for Idaho Fish and Game’s fishing survey.

The survey is offered every five or six years and asks anglers how they fish, their preferred fish species, what types of fishing regulations they support, and what conservation priorities Fish and Game should pursue.

Results from the survey will shape Fish and Game’s next statewide fish management plan, which will go into effect in 2013.

Take it at fishandgame.idaho.gov.
