Posted: 4:31pm on Jan 23, 2012

Maestro Northwest GIS, a startup company specializing in geographic information systems, has been formed by partners Lauren Erickson and Daniel Tepper.

The firm is in Fairhaven and has produced maps related to farm management, property planning, and trail planning. Their services include cartography, spatial analysis and map production for presentations and print projects.

Partner Lauren Erickson graduated from Huxley College of the Environment at Western Washington University with a degree in geography, where she was particularly interested in urbanization and agroecology. Daniel Tepper is an advocate for parks and recreation in Whatcom County and began his foray with GIS technology as a result of that interest.

GIS uses innovative software to display data in map form. It is also used as a system of database management and was adopted to some extent by most government agencies.
