Recap: Southern Miss vs. Marshall

Neil Watson scored 18 points to lead the Southern Miss Golden Eagles to a 67-63 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd in a Conference-USA affair at Reed Green Coliseum.

LaShay Page added 15 points in the win for Southern Miss (17-3, 4-1 C-USA).

DeAndre Kane netted 21 points to pace Marshall (13-6, 4-1) in the loss, while Nigel Spiked pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Thundering Herd were stifled to the tune of 36.7 percent from the field during the opening period of play, enabling Southern Miss to take a 42-30 lead into the break.

The Golden Eagles hit just 30.4 percent of their attempts from the floor over the final 20 minutes, but continued a sound defensive effort by limiting Marshall (41.4 percent) as well.

The Thundering Herd converted just 6-of-18 from long range and 11-of-20 at the charity stripe during the contest.
