Public and private schools in Whatcom County are closed Wednesday, Jan. 18 due to bad weather and poor road conditions, but Western Washington University will open on time, officials said this morning.

All public school districts canceled classes - Bellingham, Blaine, Lynden, Lummi Nation, Ferndale, Meridian, Mount Baker and Nooksack Valley.

Among private schools, Assumption Catholic, Bakerview Christian, Ebenezer Christian, Lynden Christian, Whatcom Day Academy and Whatcom Hills Waldorf schools are closed.

Whatcom Community College and Northwest Indian College are also closed.

In Skagit County, Anacortes schools will start two hours late with buses on snow routes. Burlington-Edison, Sedro-Woolley and Mount Vernon schools are closed.
