Dani Mata placed second in the 118-pound class and the Mount Baker girls' wrestling team took fifth place out of 16 teams in the Fife Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Mata was pinned in the 118-pound championship match to just miss taking first. Lacey Cannon placed third at 137, Laura Torrero placed fourth at 100 and Megan Young took fourth in 130.

"We came out and battled," Mount Baker coach Clyde Blockley said in a phone interview. "We are young, though, and that is really showing. We lost a lot of matches because of inexperience."

Warden placed first overall, Fife took second and White River was third.
