The Whatcom Community College men's basketball team earned a 75-72 win over Edmonds Community College Saturday, Jan. 11, at Edmonds CC.

Derek Dickerson led the Orcas with 20 points. Evan Coulter chipped in 17 points and Will Perry added 16 points in the win.

"It was a game that I don't think we really ever got going," Whatcom coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview. "They were always a couple points behind, and we didn't shoot well from outside tonight. They also outrebounded us."

Edmonds had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but a 3-point attempt was unsuccessful as Whatcom escaped with the win.

"I think Derek, Evan and Will played exceptionally well tonight," Scrimsher said. "You're talking 20, 17 and 16. They battled the whole night."

Former Mount Baker standout Zach Stalin scored six points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

The Orcas next game is against Peninsula Community College at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Peninsula CC.
